Thanks Guy for helping make this launch a memorable event! It was a short notice announcement as I was shooting for July 3rd but wasn't sure that I would be ready. We had Grandson , Axel and company(his Mom--Jenn and Dad-- Andy, Aunt Meg, and Grandma Patty) at the launch as well as about 30 neighbors and friends. We christened it with an Anglers Ale and an Oarsman Ale---both fine Michigan Micro Brews. We had neighbors with American Flags, a Music box played "Stars and Stripes Forever". A neighbor offered a blessing and off I went into the pond behind our condo. It was a successful launch and Axel even went for a short ride!! This project took 120 hours and 7 months. Worth the effort and lots of fun to have the project turn out so nice!!</span>Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18311883336523286728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2795692076278626583.post-39133043330941591052011-07-03T18:34:00.000-07:002011-07-03T18:34:13.503-07:00It's all in the details<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvgVFvTJLl9WoJsQQn4qszbyeHURaHvzDRXDoG8Lj8m82uztKVm0uLYVSDBS9LA3xvwjlYuSoXE_4Hsu5a3G4Te0VDQYMd7-R2rvSR-XBxH_T4ilrXo3Ihh-BGhQ46O9JQtVB20r-2AK_s/s1600/022+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvgVFvTJLl9WoJsQQn4qszbyeHURaHvzDRXDoG8Lj8m82uztKVm0uLYVSDBS9LA3xvwjlYuSoXE_4Hsu5a3G4Te0VDQYMd7-R2rvSR-XBxH_T4ilrXo3Ihh-BGhQ46O9JQtVB20r-2AK_s/s320/022+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJC_UjL36fQ4APViRw3RbMC0ZeMwnhSUzomdaG1AfCrbhMR4H0Iq-sWVc7PrP4VDuQazsycBMRcEOeyLiPpLvKYrFoWsd0zWPpw54Xi5BfN6qCe5HqRO6FP2XSi41gsJaR8_4L_Niqd0Xx/s1600/021+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJC_UjL36fQ4APViRw3RbMC0ZeMwnhSUzomdaG1AfCrbhMR4H0Iq-sWVc7PrP4VDuQazsycBMRcEOeyLiPpLvKYrFoWsd0zWPpw54Xi5BfN6qCe5HqRO6FP2XSi41gsJaR8_4L_Niqd0Xx/s320/021+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgee5WNIH5MwnI9wud_ciwvxVpMTHKMX1xdBwAOF89FKwdjhirUuoQF7UBFkPubEDAJ0qLUP-1Ay2zsEd96QXsV5klsUoiPDmfl18IvblgdRLSKwx2gj3WufYEAX2ahl0s9Vsgt6NMi_rqN/s1600/023+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgee5WNIH5MwnI9wud_ciwvxVpMTHKMX1xdBwAOF89FKwdjhirUuoQF7UBFkPubEDAJ0qLUP-1Ay2zsEd96QXsV5klsUoiPDmfl18IvblgdRLSKwx2gj3WufYEAX2ahl0s9Vsgt6NMi_rqN/s320/023+%25282%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

I had a nice visit with Lou Farhood and he offered encouragement and construction tips. He finished a beautiful Wood Duck 12 Hybrid last August. I copied his cradle that fits on the saw horse. It is 1 and 1/2 inch pvc pipe with foam insulation as a pad. It is simple cheap and works great. In the plastic tent, heater on and three 150 watt light bulbs heats the "shop" to a cozy 65 degrees when it is 30 degrees outside. It should cure in 24 to 36 hours. <br />

Chesapeake Light Craft has a showroom, shop and classroom in Annapolis, MD. This was the last demo day of the season AND they had their once a year sale of kits and building and finishing supplies.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> I spent the morning looking at boats, talking to employees, and watching a class in session. The "hook" was almost set! I then spent the mid-day touring the Naval Academy. A Great tour of a beautiful and historic campus. At 5pm I met Joey Schott of CLC(Chesapeake Light Craft) at Pier 7 for the demo. After the demo the hook was set and they were reeling me in! The demo was very worthwhile. I thought I wanted one boat(mill creek 13) prior to the demo. After the demo I decided on the Wood Duck 12 Hybrid. Paddles great and looks great!!</span>Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18311883336523286728noreply@blogger.com0
